Whiskers & Tails pet sitting

As much as we love our furry, feathery and scaly friends and never want to leave their sides, it's not really realistic to take them everywhere with us.

My Mum's little Border Terrier, Bert (read his poetry here) is lucky enough to be carted up and down the country, everywhere that my Mum goes, he goes as often as possible. The same cannot be said for little Charles. Cat's aren't the easiest of animals to travel with, Charles isn't the easiest cat to live with!

Last Christmas my Mum, Bert and Myself were travelling up to Crewe to spend it with family. Usually we would've asked a friend or family member to pop into the house and give Charles a cuddle and some food but none live close enough to justify asking them to take time out of their Christmas to visit.

With that in mind I started looking at local Catteries (none of which were close enough for people that don't drive) The prices were also extortionate, the usual rate for most was massive then with the added costs of it being Christmas it was completely unrealistic.

At a loss at what to do I Google searched for Pet Sitters in Bedford and came across the Whiskers & Tails site    I immediately completed the enquiry form and no more than half an hour later I received a phonecall from Toni who gave me an amazing quote for one visit a day for three days, covering the time I was away. Toni and I then arranged for her to come and visit Charles before we went away and go over his care and needs. I was really impressed with this detail as it not only showed Toni's professionalism but also, her genuine passion for animals and her work. Naturally, Charles took a shine to Toni and showed off as much as he could (pretending he was a nice cute cat) I showed Toni where Charles' food was, advised how much to give him etc. and how to unlock and lock our really dodgy front door.

During our time away Toni kept us updated on Charles via text and even sent photos of him having snuggles and food. This completely reassured our concerns about leaving him as seeing his happy face let us know that he was Ok. Since Christmas my Mum has even left Bert in Toni's care which, as anyone who knows my Mum will understand, leaving her precious baby alone is a big step and proves how exceptional the Whiskers & Tails service is.

I have found that that having pet sitter come to your home rather than putting them in Kennels or Catteries is more beneficial for your animal's wellbeing as they are staying in their own territory and not having to face the added distress of being away from home as well as away from their humans and, in Charles' case also away from fellow fur-pals.
