Makeup Revolution Palettes

Back in December, just before Christmas, Makeup revolution was 3 for 2 at Superdrug and I couldn't resist. Linda treated me to three palettes and I haven't stopped using them since.

My most used is the Ultra Brow palette in fair to medium and the Ultra Contour palette. I love the brow palette for the mixture of shades. For a bolder brow for evening wear I tend to use darker middle shade and for a day-to-day look I go for the lighter brown shade at the top. The brow kit comes with two powder based shades, each with a lighter powder shade for highlighting as well as two waxes both dark and light and a cream and powder highlighter. The palette also has a brow pencil, two brushes and some cute little tweezers for some those pesky stray hairs that pop up over night. With the help of this palette, I have finally reached my brow goals. The deal maker for this palette for me is that either shades match my brows and skin tone so I can go for two looks. For a budget palette the formula of the powders and wax is amazing, the powder stays in place all the day and the addition of the highlighters means that you can achieve perfect brows all in one place. The only thing I would change would be to make the brushes a little larger; they're teeny tiny fiddly brushes that can easily be dropped in a cup of coffee when applying make-up zombie style on a Monday morning.

The contour palette is another makeup game changer, featuring eight powder based shades that can also aid transitioning from day to night in one handy compact palette with four bronzer shades varying from light to dark with the inclusion of a shimmer shade to sparkle on the dance floor. The highlighter shades include a pink, cream, peach and shimmer shade that compliment the bronze shades perfectly. The staying power is amazing, I can actually see my contour by the end of the working day. I find the darker shades can be tricky to blend but that could just be due to my industrial strength base coat - God bless you Vichy.

Finally, I picked up the Ultra Matte Shades palette consisting of thirty-flipping-two beautiful toned matte shades ranging from soft creams to smokey grey. I don't tend to wear colour on my eyes unless it's for evening wear and being a little hermit means I haven't got as much use as I'd like out this palette. I have used it though and can safely say the staying power is perfect and the shades slide on and blend like a dream. The only issue I have with this palette is that there's so many shades to choose from, you can end up getting blend-happy and looking like you've been punched in the eye....or is that just me?

Also, can we take a moment to appreciate the sleek black packaging?

  1. These sound incredible! I particularly like the sound of the brow kit. It's super cheap yet you described it as if it's insanely good, which I believe it probably is! I'd struggle choosing an eyeshadow to wear due to having 32 shades to choose from! xx

  2. Thanks for doing this post, as I have been lusting over the Revolution contour kit for ages, it sounds fab so think I'm deffo gonna go purchase it next time I go shopping! The brow kit sounds GLORIOUS, I'm always on the lookout for a good brow kit, right now I'm loving the Tanya Burr one (it's a godsend), but this one sounds equally fab. I really love this brand, I have some of their products and think they're so pigmented and the colours are beaut, especially for the price!! xx
