Makeup Revolution Ultra

I’ve worked out that one of the worst times to run out of foundation is a week before you’re due to move house. No matter how bad your skin is there is no justification for spending a small fortune on some Vichy Dermablend. I was bracing myself for a couple of weeks foundation free when I accidently fell over and landed at the Makeup Revolution stand in Superdrug…again.

After some swatching and lip biting I bit the bullet (or my lips a bit more) and accidentally bought some Makeup Revolution Ultra Base Foundation (shade 08 pink tone) and some Ultra Base Primer and Fixing Spray.

I have always been a little dubious about foundations that cost anything less than a fiver. My skin is so important and although I feel that I can get away with the occasional cheap eye liner or lipstick, I just can’t say the same for my face-skin. However, Makeup Revolution have gone and done it again. Used in conjunction with the silky-smooth formula of the Primer, the Ultra Base foundation glided on just like Vichy and, dare I say it…was much more manageable to blend and a better colour match.

The silky-smooth previously mentioned primer is a make-up protection God send, once applied to the face it leaves a light an airy feel and seems to hold to makeup perfectly as it is applied. I also got the Pro Fix Fixing spray which, with the weather we’re having in the UK at the moment, perfect timing! The fixing spray really holds my makeup ion place right up until bed time which is dramatic difference from when my makeup had all but disappeared by the time I finished work at 5:00pm.

This little fase base haul came in it at £13, that’s still less than one 30 ml bottle of Vichy Dermablend. I’m loving how much money Makeup Revolution is saving me right now. I think the next thing to check off their list is brushes (because I can’t be bothered to wash mine)

Foundation: £3.00
Primer: £5.00
Fixing Spray:  £5.00

  1. Isn't it a shame when you accidental fall over and buy things?!?! Haha too funny. I tend to be in the same mindset about foundation - really suspicious of the cheap as chips ones. Reviews like this make all the difference! xxx

  3. I can't get over how affordable it is, I really love Makeup Revolution, especially their eyeshadows! I'm putting these products STRAIGHT on my shopping list, I'm actually really excited to go pick them up, hopefully they work for me as I worry that cheaper foundations will mess up my skin, but I'm sure they'll be great! xx

  4. Ummmm, I need to try this. I'm between foundations right now and just don't know what to choose. Ironically, the best foundation I've ever had for my dry skin has been by MaxFactor!
