Lent Day 1

Today is the first day of Lent, as many know, most Christians give something up for 40 and days and 40 nights. It's probably the only thing that I get right as a Catholic and I relish the challenge, over the years I've given up alcohol, social media, and Haribo to name a few. This year is a little different as I don't think that there is something that I am specifically taking advantage of, aside from one thing and that is my body. When I lost weight, I stopped exercising, I was down to the dress size I wanted to be and managed to maintain it by simply not eating as much and managing my portions. Since then I have noticed that my thighs aren't as toned and my bum could do with a little boost. That could be classed as rather vain which, isn't very Christian but there's always my health to consider too, I finally managed to get into running but the appeal of lying on the sofa watching Real Housewives after work won. So, this Lent, I'm going to get back into my daily squats (completing a minimum of 50 per day) and running once a week. 

I'm also going to change my outlook a little too and be less snappy and more understanding. We can all afford to be a little kinder and lent is the perfect place to start. 

Hopefully by the end of these 40 days, I'll be healthier and nicer and, as physiologists reckon it takes 30 days for something to become a habit, I'll be ten days over it becoming a new way of life and and another step on my journey to becoming a better person.
