My Little Box | Upcycle

I’ve had this little box since I was bout 18. I used it to store my day-to-day makeup in for a few years but as my makeup collection grew I needed more space and almost forgot about this little box. I think it may have been my Great Grandparent’s box and my Granddad gave it to me, I didn’t think much of it at the time but a few years later I watched a documentary about life during the 1920’s – 30’s and noticed that a lady used a box identical to this. I wondered if my Great Grandmother used this exact box to store her makeup and beauty essentials in, it’s a romantic notion.

When Luke and I were moving the remainder of my stuff from my Mum’s old house this weekend, I spotted this little old box amongst all my other miscellaneous items that I just can’t part with. As we were carrying it upstairs to our house I realised that this box is the perfect size to store my every day stuff in and it would fit perfectly in my bureau, luckily I still had enough paint left to give this little box some TLC.

This was my mission this afternoon, I gave it a good clean, sanded the wood down and painted it with the same primer and paint as my bedroom furniture. It looks so different and sits so perfectly in it’s space, I feel guilty for neglecting it for so long.
