Spectrum 4 Piece Contour Face Set*

When Spectrum Brushes kindly offered to send me their 4 piece Contour Set I did a little dance - I have been lusting over the Spectrum brush collections for a while so you can imagine my excitement at getting my paws on my own set to try out. Spectrum hold the most instagrammable collection of make-up brushes on the earth, and if that's not a good enough reason to need something in your life I don't know what is; not to mention the fact that I have read so many positive reviews about these brushes as well as Spectrum as whole.

I tend to focus more on my base for my day-to-day makeup, I don't really have enough time in the morning to be faffing around with blending shades so I have just about mastered the art of winged liner which serves me well throughout the day. My base is a different story, having invested in some higher end foundation, I like to make an effort when applying it and ensure that I use the best tools - this is where the Contour Set comes in, having 4 brushes to specifically use of the different aspects that are of high quality massively improves the overall finished look.

The set includes:
  • B01 - Flat Top Buffer
  • BO2 - Domed Buffer
  • CO3 - Tulip Powder
  • CO4 - Angled Powder
The B01 brush is perfect for applying the overall base colour (I use Urban Decay Naked Skin) I find that the B01 is a nice chunky size to get full coverage and the flat top ensures that I apply a nice even layer of foundation to my face as well as being easy to use in those harder to reach places - the side of the nose and below the eye etc. B02 is an ideal blending brush and gives that photo-finish leaving your skin looking airbrushed to near perfection. I give my base a small blend with this brush before applying my contour and then use it at the end with some pressed powder to 'seal the deal' and because this brush is the softest thing ever and feels like a fluffy kitten's tail stroking my face and I can't get enough of it tbh.

I'm still using my Makeup Revolution Contour palette and find powder much easier quicker to create a basic contoured look especially when I'm running late for work. I use the C04 to apply the contour shade as we all know that's what angled brushes are for *insert sassy girl emoji* again, softness of these brushes make application so much easier - there's no digging around palettes with scratchy brushes that result in me looking like I'm auditioning for the TA. The C03 brush is used to apply my highlighting powder and blending in that contour one more time because there's nothing worse than leaving the house looking like a slice of Neapolitan ice cream or, like a tiny bike has cycled through mud...and then up my cheek.

I honestly cannot recommend these brushes enough, they look stunning and are amazing to use. Aside from the magical softness, the overall size is something that I love, I find that thicker brushes are much easier to work with and these seem to be of a quality that stay thick. The only criticism that I have is that they're almost too pretty to use. This contour set costs £29.99 and can be bought online here. Spectrum have a plethora of brushes available I have my eyes on the Siren set because look at those colours oh, and look at the Glam Clam - yeah brushes stored in a Clam, what a time to be alive. If all of that isn't enough to make you want some brushes, Spectrum is Vegan registered and cruelty free.
