Mark Hill MiracOILous

How it started

This mini Mark Hill set was a gift from another cousin at Christmas (I do realise that by now I'm starting to sound like a Dingle but I was just epically spoilt by two cousins this this so shout out to Lou for this one) I was completely new to Mark Hill hair products but after a couple of months of having a mid-life hair crisis and not being able to find a single shampoo or conditioner that actually made my hair feel clean I was keen to try this collection out. It turns out that it genuinely is MiracOILous and has worked wonders on my weird hair.

Back in August I went and got my hair cut for the first time in ages and thought it'd be a good idea to get a fringe cut, y'know just for the hell of it. I used to have one when I was younger and loved it. Turns out, according to the hairdresser that my hair has only gone and bloody aged! Meaning that it can't be cut into the same shapes as it used to or, handle as much heat and styling etc. This was a bit of a slap in the moon-head, I mean I knew hair thinned with age and went grey but it never occurred to me that it actually changed consistency nor that I would be experiencing this at the ripe old age of 26. Cheers life, thanks a lot. So after revelation, I went on a bit of hair rampage and temporarily dyed my hair brown and cut my fringe even shorter (because that makes sense, right?) In the midst of this hair drama, my hair became immune to any shampoo or conditioner and was constantly left feeling clogged with product and never clean...until this game-changer happened.

After using the minis for just under a month I had to get the full-size products and I'm almost 100% I've found my holy grail hair products.

The Shampoo

All products in the Miracoilous collection contain and exotic blend of 14 essential oils and plant extracts and that are said to rehydrate and add moisture to dry and damaged hair. With a blend of Moroccan Argan Oil, Ylang Ylang, Bergamot, Spearmint and Patchouli not only is it definitely miracOILous, it smells bloody ah-may-zing! I can't put my finger on the smell but it reminds me of sweet; a mix between Fruit Polos (where did they go btw?), Refreshers and Fizzers. I find the shampoo is quite thick meaning that you need quite a bit to get a good lather but it leaves hair feeling nourished and light which is exactly what I look for in a shampoo.

The Conditioner

With similar ingredients to the shampoo and the same great scent this conditioner is extra-conditioning, I have found this just as effective as other 2 minute masks rather than just a conditioner. Whilst the conditioner is thick and creamy, it has a hint oil that leaves just enough residue to deeply moisturise but not leave hair feeling clogged and also moisturising to not need to do a hair mask every couple of days.

2 Minute Mask

I honestly can't get over this mask - it's really given life back to my and is so moitsurising that little goes a long way. I've also found that it doesn't turn hair to grease when applied on the scalp but moisturises and conditions the skin as well as the hair - leaving hair in top condition for longer between washes. Again, the smell is to die for!

Moroccan Argan Oil

This was the one product within the collection that I anticipated being most underwhelmed by; I usually find that hair oils can be so oily that a tiny drop leaves hair greasier than Filche's or that it's so watery it was pointless ever using any. This oils is slightly thick in consistency allowing the right measurement to be pumped out with ease and manipulated and massaged into hair without running down your arms or staying in one clump of hair. I can't not use this oil not and find it makes brushing so much easier when applied to damp hair - it also works wonders for the scalp without damaging or upsetting sensitive skin.

Final thoughts

What surprised me the most about the collection and indeed Mark Hill as a whole is the affordable prices. I was expecting such a high-end collection to be well out of my budget but with the shampoo and conditioners each being £6.99 and the mask currently £5.00 - not to mention the current 3 for 2 offer in Boots, it's no more than I would spend on any regular shampoo.

  4. Well, I just learnt something too about hair! I too knew it aged like getting thinner and greyer but nothing more than that. Great post and awesome products.
