Pregnancy Skincare

"Pregnancy does wonders for your skin, hair and nails, just you wait" is something I've heard over and over and eagerly anticipated glowing like a photoshopped Kardashian as my HGC hormones increased but unfortunately, everything went to sh*t! Especially my skin thankfully, after trial and error I've found some perfect products that have helped settle my skin and even if I say so myself, there might just be a bit of glow under there.

Vital C Hydrating Enzyme Masque - Image Skincare*

This mask has been a bloody saviour, I didn't have many expectations when I first received but after the very first use I was well impressed. My dry and blemished skin felt smooth, even and moisturised not to mention the amazing orange fragrance that made me feel fresh faced and ready to face the day (or night's sleep). The Vital C Masque utilises natural enzymatic exfoliants to gently dissolve the build up of dead skin cells and provides the skin with anti-oxidants that nourish and promote healthy looking skin (explaining that almost glow).  As the masque is water-based, it provides the perfect base for my base helping my foundation apply smoothly and last all day making me look more alive and less knackered.

Sebamed Lip Defese and Hand & Nail Balm*

I hadn’t heard of Sebemed until they kindly offered to send me some products to try and I am so glad they did. The Lip Defense has worked wonders on my dry and chapped lips and has actually soothed them rather than further dried them like most other lip products I’ve previously used, I’ve found that it also works as a good base before applying a lip colour to give my skin a little more protection throughout the day which is very much needed in these colder months. The hand and nail balm has also been a life saver for me, having gone off the scent of my trusty old hand food I’ve needed something help sooth my chapped fingers and help keep my cuticles nice and soft whilst I go through this acrylic nail stage – the hand balm soaks into skin well without leaving a greasy residue which makes it a perfect desk-top moisturiser. I like Sebamed because the products do what they say, there’s no pretence and the packaging gives me an almost medical, healing vibe whilst standing out.

Bio Essence bio gold miracle finisher

Bio-Essence Bio-Gold Miracle Finisher*

Bio-Essence is brand that I have been desperate to try for a while and was lucky enough to be sent some of their Miracle Finish to try and I have to say, this is one of the best products I have used under my make-up base in a long time. Enriched with 24K Bio-Gold, Bio Mineral Amino Acid and Bio Energy Fluid, the finish is the very last step in a skin care routine and to be used before the application of make-up essentially as a primer and OMG does it work miracles. With my problematic and unreliable pregnancy skin, foundation has been a nightmare and clung to my dry patches and slid off my oily patches leaving me looking a state. The Miracle Finish provides a thick but light base that almost airbrushes out any blemishes and smooths skin, providing a flawless finish for make-up. I wore this every day with a full coverage foundation on top, in wind and rain as well as in an office where the heating is on and off several times a day and for the first time, probably ever, my make-up hasn’t budged. If you’re looking for a soothing, smoothing and flawless base providing miracle finish, Bio-Essence have gotchoo.
