38 weeks pregnant and feeling it.
I am so ready to have this
baby, it’s funny how at the start of pregnancy I worried about the logistics of
giving birth and now I don’t care…just get him out. I thought now would be the
apt time to share some more of my brutally honest pregnancy updates before he
arrives so, here goes.
I’ve started thinking about the things I miss, sleeping on
my stomach, my feet, breathing, being able to pick things up off the floor, even
the gym!
I’m trying to stay on my feet and walk as often as possible,
when I was at work I would make sure I did a little lap around town to keep my
steps up and found myself many times lusting after all the clothes in Newlook –
I’m at the stage where even maternity
clothes look ridiculous. I want to wear jeans and boots and cute little jumpers
and not look like a potato if that’s ok thanks.
Strangers have started making comments like ‘oh you must be
about to pop’ and ‘are you sure it’s not twins’ I don’t mind it too much it’s
just annoying having to smile and not be the grumpy pregnant person
People also want to touch me a lot now which is a bit
strange – some people will come straight at me and maul away and others kind of
need to be invited to which is also weird because I’m not massively into human
contact
Pregnancy really hardens you up - It’s amused me how in the
first 16 weeks of pregnancy I was suffering with awful morning sickness and
flaking around like some delicate flower and now I’ll just throw up, wet
myself, pass out and get right back to what I was doing
My appetite has rocketed and I want to eat all the things
all the time but I still have that pesky indigestion and acid reflux so I can’t, yay
Itchy bumps and rashes - another thing that no one really
tells you about until you Google it and are suddenly faced with horror stories
of what your symptoms could indicate
Diarrhea has been happening for just over a week which, apparently
is perfectly normal so that’s fabulous. The other day I had to physically kick
Luke off the loo because I needed it
I am the best at napping; I wake up and need a nap to get
over it. I can fall asleep in a second for hours and still go to bed at my
usual time. I am living my best life
I thought it’d be a good idea to do some maintenance down
there, the only with that I couldn’t see it and I’d lost the Veet so I had to
hack away with four razors and hope the for best. Turns out I did a good job
but what I didn’t anticipate is how much everything swells, EVERYTHING!
Forgetting simple things – I’ve only recently started to
forget very basic things like what keys are for and my job and how to get out
of the bath, it’s loads of fun
Unfortunately not all midwives are as reliable as you’d
think, I’ve very quickly realised that the friends and family I am surrounded
by can offer more support and advice than my healthcare provider, it’s a shame
and they should do better but I’m not allowing myself to be stressed over it.
So there you have it, pregnancy is basically 9 months of
gross things happenings to your body that continue to get worse until you have
the baby which, I image is also going to be full of gross experiences. I can’t
wait to meet him, hurry up Freddie!
I love your honesty!! Most pregnancy updates are about whether people can still wear their rings or if their bellybuttons have popped out - you tell it like it is! xx

I LOVE how the cats are like put us down right now lol. Love the post, I do not miss pregnancy. I was 20, and all my friends would be asking me how I am coping with the thought of childbirth, but by 34-36 weeks you are so sick fed up of being a house sized human you would do anything to get them out - I was begging for labour by 7 days over, getting excited over a twinge of pain lol - pregnancy is a wierd thing!

ReplyDeleteLove it Issy, this is sooooo true, if I still worked with you we'd have had some awesome conversations about how utterly shit pregnancy is, hated it, LOVED thekids labour...something I could actually get my teeth into and feel as if I'm actually doing something rather than something being done to me!!! You'll love it.
