NYX PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP Lingerie Vault with swatches

What's the most logical thing to do when you're wanting to try a lip product for the first time? Buy it in 30 shades of course. I've been lusting after the Nyx Lingerie collection for a while but with already having an obscene amount of lip products that I don't use often often enough stashed away in my make-up drawer, I never got around to buying any (much to Luke's relief). Then, Cult Beauty popped up in my inbox with an offer to buy the Lingerie Vault, that includes 6 additional shades to the collection for £45 and the baby kicked and it accidentally fell in my shopping basket and before I knew it it was being handed to me by the world's grumpiest postman and well, here we are.

So what is the Nyx Lingerie collection? Asked no one. Well, the collection compromises of shades ranging from mahogany red, cinnamon pink, chocolate brown to classic nude providing a shade for every skin that is said to be subtly seductive and easy to wear - the easy to wear bit is exactly what I like to go for when it comes to lip colours. I often find really bold shades too big of a commitment and by lunch time I've picked, peeled and rubbed it off because reapplying is too  much effort - sorry not sorry!

Formula, Application and Longevity 

The colder months always massively effects my lips, I'm still looking for the ultimate lip balm but so holla @ me with any suggestions, this means that wearing a general lipstick is pretty much a no-go until spring because all it does is highlight my dry patches as it quickly wears off - strangely, I find that liquid lipstick formulas work better with my skin as I leave them alone and  they tend to wear off evenly rather than in unsightly patches. I would say that the formula of the Nyx Lingerie liquid lip colours are a mixture between Kylie Cosmetics Lipkits and the Body Shop liquid lipsticks, Kylie's take a lot of commitment and are hard wearing, they can't be topped up easily and need to be reapplied when they eventually wear off. The Bodyshop formula us a lot weaker in comparison, whilst they glide on smoother and have the satin finish that Nyx have mastered they wear very quickly and require multiple layers as well as a very smooth base to achieve a full matte look. 

As you can see in the swatches below the Nyx liquid lipsticks apply differently, the more nude shades tend to glide on easier than the darker ones that need a little bit of work and layering, but I think the overall finish is perfectly fine - a nice thing about this formula is that it's easy to blend, you have plenty of time before it tries to create the desired finish rather than mess it up and have to start again and as Nyx say, it's definitely a light weight finish and really breathable. 

Considering they're so lightweight and easy to wear, I was expecting the staying power to suffer but after a meal and drinks, the only visible wear was in the middle of my lips which is pretty much unavoidable unless you choose to not eat or drink or talk or open your mouth. Naturally the darker shades wear more visibly whereas the lighter and nude shades barely require any topping up. I really enjoy how easy the shades are to wear, I keep my make-up look quite relaxed overall and opt for a BB cream over a full-coverage foundation most days, this means that using my favoured liquid lipsticks can look somewhat harsh in comparison to the rest of my makeup looks but there's something about the lingerie collection that is subtle yet equally striking.

The New Shades 

As I mentioned above, the vault included six new shades to the Lingerie collection ranging from cool blue tones to lighter coral tones. My favourite out of these six has to be Tainted, it's the perfect nude for my lips that doesn't wash me out or make my teeth look dull. It's also an ideal summer shade and would look good with a dewy complexion and winged liner.

Obviously not all the shades are going to suit me or be my costa cup of coffee but the fact that they're minis means that I'm simply getting an idea of the shades that I like to repurchase in full-sized bottles if I want to. I'm going to be a little controversial here and say that the original price of £65 is a bit of a stretch considering the small amount of product you get per bottle and the vault isn't something that I would've considered if it hadn't been on sale however, this doesn't mean that I'm not massively impressed with the Lingerie Collection as a whole and I'm certainly going to look forward to sampling each shade and selecting my favourites. The vault is still on sale on Beauty Bay but is currently out of stock, there is the option to add yourself to waitlist so I'm assuming it'll be available soon but I'm not sure what the price will be.
